13 beautiful shots from Chanel’s Cruise show in Cuba
It’s been a long tradition for Karl Lagerfeld to take his Chanel Cruise collections (and Metier d’Arts) on the road. After taking over cities like Dubai and Seoul, Kaiser Karl brings the latest collection to the magical city of Havana, Cuba. And judging from what we’ve seen on social media, it seems like the fashion show attendees had the time of their lives. From guests getting picked up in candy-coloured vintage convertibles to a congo dance party under the Havana sky, we never felt so much #FOMO in our life.
While previous collection have been shown in an enclosed space, Chanel took its Cruise 2016 collection to the streets. Paseo del Prado, the famous promenade that divides Centro Habana and Old Havana, was transformed into Chanel’s runway where models strolled down the boulevard in Cuban-inspired looks that included everything from chinos and tourist T-shirts to relaxed tweet suits with military-esque jackets. And fedoras, fedoras, fedoras!
We were sad to see Gisele Bündchen MIA at this year’s Met Gala, until we realized the Brazilian model was too busy hitting the Chanel Cuban festivities with other A-list guests. While it was no surprise to see other ambassadresses like Alice Dellal and Tilda Swinton supporting the French designer house, we were pleasantly amused to see Vin Diesel, who apparently is in Havana shooting #F8, sitting pretty in the front row.
