Now that the red carpet is officially over and the ceremony is underway, we’re taking a few minutes to deep dive into some of the night’s best beauty looks. After all, whilst the sweeping gowns and power suits are excellent to look at, so too are the meticulously crafted beauty looks that finish the ensembles.

And this year’s cosmetic touches seemed to fall into two distinct camps: standout eyes and statement lips. Here’s who we loved.

Standout eyes

Ansel Elgort

Leading the looks tonight was actor Ansel Elgort who added a touch of silver paint to his inner corners. His nails also matched his eyes. *clapping emoji*

Cynthia Erivo

Cynthia Erivo was a red carpet standout, not least thanks to her expert-level smokey eye and nude lips created using Armani products by makeup artist Terrell Mullin.

Margot Robbie

Pati Dubroff created this pretty lilac eye on Margot Robbie using Chanel makeup. We love the rosy cheeks and the muted lip (it’s Rouge Coco Flash 212 in Contraste in case you were wondering), too.

Rachel Bilson

Rachel Bilson never puts a foot wrong on the red carpet – evidenced by her cool Brock Collection dress, and her soft, natural beauty look. Makeup artist Amy Nadine achieved the pretty smokey eye and flawless base using Charlotte Tilbury and IT Cosmetics.

Lucy Boynton

The handiwork of makeup artist Jo Baker, Lucy Boynton’s bejewelled eye is the stuff red carpet beauty dreams are made of.

Statement lips

Zoë Kravitz

Newlywed Zoë Kravitz kept it cool for this year’s event, pairing her spotted Saint Laurent gown with a neutral eye and deep red lip.

Kerry Washington

A sleek bob and a power lip = a winning red carpet combo, as evidenced by Kerry Washington.

Gugu Mbatha-Raw

Our current cover star Gugu Mbatha-Raw opted for a soft golden eye and a bold red pout by MUA Nick Barose using Armani Beauty products.

Kirsten Dunst

Kirsten Dunst’s makeup artist Mary Wiles married a soft statement eye with a bright red lip (using all Dior Beauty products) to complement her pink Rodarte gown.
