9 Team Canada Olympians You Should Be Following on Instagram
Every two years, millions of sports-haters tune in to enthusiastically cheer on their favourite athletes. There’s nothing quite like the Olympics to turn you into a screaming nationalist sports fan!
But keeping up with the 2018 Winter Games has been kind of tricky. Depending on where you live, there’s a 13 to 17 hour time difference between our country and PeoyongChang, which means most of the action is happening while we’re sound asleep. Social media makes things a little easier, with our favourite athletes from Team Canada sharing behind-the-scenes stories from the slopes, skating rink and Olympic village dorm rooms. For your next #fitspo, #MCM and #WCW, here is your definitive guide to the Canadian Olympic athletes you should be following on Instagram.
Tristan Walker
Luge, Team Canada
Walker gives the fans what they really want: pictures of him shirtless with his oh-so-precious pups.
Tessa Virtue
Figure Skating, Team Canada
As 1/2 of Scott and Tessa — the gold medal Olympic skating duo with their own show on W Network — Virtue maintains a charming and active social media presence. She’s also a pretty decent designer. Would we expect any less from Canada’s sweetheart?
Mark McMorris
Snowboard, Team Canada
You may recognize this fresh faced snow bunny from McMorris & McMorris, the 2013 MTV show that profiled the life of him and his snowboarding brother. Sadly, the docu-series lasted only one season — but the good news is that you can keep up with the decorated pro-snowboarder on the ‘gram.
Justine Dufour-Lapointe
Freestyle Skiing, Team Canada
On the slopes, this 23-year-old mogul skier is a two time Olympic medalist (gold in 2014, and silver in 2018.) But on her Insta, Dufour-Lapointe shares #OOTD inspo worthy of a different, but equally as impressive, title: Street Style Star.
Chloe Dufour-Lapointe
Freestyle Skiing, Team Canada
Seeing double? Chloe is Justine Dufour-Lapointe’s younger sister — and she’s also an Olympic medalist in the moguls event. But our favourite thing about these standout siblings isn’t their athletic ability: it’s the super sweet Insta-captions they write about each other. There’s nothing like a #sisters #love.
Max Parrot
Snowboard, Team Canada
Parrot’s feed is mostly snowboards, medals and podiums — which TBH isn’t all that exciting. But he sometimes posts pics of his dogs, and he has an impressive 137K followers.
Dara Howell
Freestyle Skiing, Team Canada
Howell was the first freestyle skier to win a gold medal in slopestyle at the inaugural event at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. Follow her for girl power quotes,#fitnessgoals and wavey hair inspo.
Kaillie Humphries
Bobsleigh, Team Canada
Sure Humpries has two Olympic gold medals — but that’s not why we love her. The bobsleigh champ is also and activist and motivational speaker: “When the deepest part of you becomes engaged in what you are doing, then you are doing what u are meant to be doing!”
Gabrielle Daleman
Figure Skating, Team Canada
This 20-year-old figure skater — and newly minted gold medalist — is serving up all kinds of make-up lewks on her Instagram.
