A Hacker Just Stole Game of Thrones Info from HBO
Remember when the first four episodes of Game of Thrones season 5 were leaked? You should, because it was an extremely polarizing time in human history: those who illegally binge watched the unreleased episodes were pitted against those who patiently waited for them to air on TV. The morally divisive situation set a new standard for entertainment ethics, and HBO has been protecting their most valuable asset from spoilers ever since. (Somehow, they’ve managed to slow down George R. R. Martin’s writing process so that the show can spill the secrets first. They’re that good.)
Anyway, it’s happening again. Here’s the email allegedly sent to an unknown number of entertainment journalists:
“Hi to all mankind. The greatest leak of cyber space era is happening. What’s its name? Oh I forget to tell. Its HBO and Game of Thrones……!!!!!! You are lucky to be the first pioneers to witness and download the leak. Enjoy it & spread the words. Whoever spreads well, we will have an interview with him. HBO is falling.”
Wow, these hackers know how to get HBO where it hurts. Not with internal emails and employee information (cc: 2014 Sony hack), but with Game of Thrones spoilers. Also, these hackers guys/gals are hella dramatic, which means they are definitely Game of Thrones fans.
So what will it be: watch all of season 7 now, or watch the episodes as HBO intended? While you think on that, I’ll just be over here trying to figure out what a torrent is…
HBO was hacked and #GameofThrones files stolen.
Can they please leak the rest of season 7. pic.twitter.com/sT81vue1pY
