A Visual History of Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s Courtside Romance
Last night, Queen Bey and her King took to their throne: a pair of courtside seats at the NBA finals. Beyoncé and Jay-Z gazed out upon their kingdom as the Toronto Raptors faced off against the Golden State Warriors, waving for the cameras and engaging in mid-game chit chat with commoners. Until, of course, the chit chat becomes tedious and irksome.
At one point in the game, ESPN caught a shot of Mr. Carter talking over his wife to a woman now known across the Internet as “Becky with the Good Hair.” (Her name is Nicole Curran, and she’s the wife of Warriors owner Jacob Lacob.) The moment has since gone viral across Twitter, with users hoping the interaction sparks new Lemonade-eqsue album material.

Apparently, we read the body language all wrong: Jay-Z just wanted lime in his vodka soda! Becky was just making sure Hova was hydrated!! So please, stop threatening that innocent woman and dial back the drama!!!
The couple’s courtside dates haven’t always resulted in side-eye, spectacle and media frenzy, but they’ve always resulted in iconic outfits and tender moments. Here’s a look back at over a decade of Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s front row romance, where you’ll find laughs, knee holds, eye gazing and, at a Nets game in 2014, a photo where Jake Gyllenhaal plays the “Becky with the Good Hair” role.
