Afternoon beauty fix: Breakout on your back? Don’t fret!

I have a mild breakout on my shoulder, but I was planning on wearing a strapless dress to an upcoming cocktail party. Help!
Treating breakouts on your body requires different products than you’d regularly use on your face because the skin on your shoulders and back is thicker and therefore more difficult for products to penetrate. Reach into your shower and grab hold of your loofah—then throw it out! It could be backed-up with bacteria, so err on the safe side and invest in one that’s brand spanking new. Swap out your regular body wash for one that will treat your breakout at the cellular level—Neutrogena Body Clear Pink Grapefruit body wash ($8 at drug stores) has a tiny bit of salicylic acid to clear breakouts without being overly drying, and Weleda Birch Body Scrub ($20, weleda.com) does the same by exfoliating your skin with wax pearls and cleansing it with non-synthetic plant oils—both will help clear your bod in a jiffy. If you still have a few spots by the time you zip that dress up, hide ’em with a highly-pigmented concealer and a light dusting of translucent powder.
