American Apparel now sells nail polish

American Apparel, the official clothier of rainbow-clad hipsters, has launched a line of nail polishes. The range’s 18 shades (US$6, americanpparel.net), bottled in New York by a 91-year-old grandmother, are inspired by the company itself: “Cotton” by the undyed hue of the brand’s raw material, “Factory Grey” by the grey wall’s of their factory, “Office” by a mint green accounting notepad.
The origins of other shades are more obscure. We’ll guess that the reddy brown”Pinto” is inspired by bean burritos and the purple “Dynasty” by the company-mandated favourite television show. We’re shocked there’s no shade for “Stretch Lamé.” [Refinery 29]
