Anne of Green Gables’ ultimate runway wardrobe (dreamed up by us)
Anne Shirley is back.
The heroine of the Anne of Green Gables books, originally penned by Lucy Maud Montgomery, is being revived in a new adaptation shot for the CBC. The series titled Anne is set to start filming 8 one-hour episodes in September, and best of all, they’ve inked a deal to stream the entire first season on Netflix in 2017 (fist pump for Canadian content!).
In case you missed the movies from the 80s and the Sunday night TV show in the 90s, the story revolves around an orphan taken in by a two elderly siblings on Prince Edward Island. Bookish, but headstrong, the precocious teen navigates life on the Island and the trials and triumphs of growing up including friends, first dates and family drama.
To celebrate the new release, we picked out our dream wardrobe for Anne. If we could flash forward to today, these are the outfits we think she would kill to wear right off the runway. Nerdy chic glasses and brocade coats from Gucci, ruffled velvet dresses from Valentino and Erdem’s puff sleeve, Victorian-inspired dresses would all become “bosom friends”.
Check out all of our top picks for Anne’s up-to-date wardrobe here.
