Apple Has a New Emoji for Saying “I Love You”

When you’re trying to communicate love, sometimes a heart emoji just doesn’t cut it. Sometimes, you need a hand with the middle two fingers curled in and the pinky, forefinger and thumb stretched out to tell someone how you feel. Apple understands: they’re adding the gesture, the American Sign Language sign for “I Love You,” to their roster of emoji.

But wait! There’s more. Hundreds of new emoji, including more emotive smiley faces, gender-neutral characters, clothing options, food types, animals, mythical creatures and more, are coming to iPhone and iPad with iOS 11.1. The new operating system will also include characters announced on World Emoji Day like Woman with Headscarf, Bearded Person, Breastfeeding, Zombie, Person in Lotus Position and new food items such as Sandwich and Coconut.

Check out some of our favourite new emoji in below. (There’s a hedgehog, a dumpling, and a super chic trench coat.)
