Beauty moments of the week: Lizzie McGuire goes green + is Bieber the new Leto?
1. Hilary Duff has blue hair now because she’s a grown-ass woman
A lot can happen in seven days. That’s why every Friday, we’re going to take time to look at three beauty moments we had feelings about that week, and discuss them accordingly.
The alternate title for Hilary Duff’s cover story in Cosmo should’ve been “Hilary Duff is an adult now, so quit referencing Lizzie Maguire.” (Sorry, but we can’t.) However to maintain her M.O. as a grown-ass woman and/or mother, Duff broke from her traditional beach-blonde aesthetic and dyed her hair green (blue?) this week.
“@Ambahhh turned me into a mermaid last night,” Duff captioned alongside an Instagram photo of stylist Amber Maynard treating said tresses at Nine Zero One salon. And congratulations to us all. Here’s why this rules: first, Hilary Duff is doing her in the realest of ways. She’s epitomizing “IDGAF” and it’s wonderful. Second, she’s walking proof that adulthood doesn’t mean you have to buckle down and live your best suburban life. In this case, she’s a cool mom and a regular mom. She’s promoting self expression via punk-ass hair and taking her son on beach trips. She’s the mom Regina George’s wishes she was. (Though if you can read this, Hilary, make sure you avoid the swamp green phase we all experienced at the hands of Manic Panic in high school.)
