Both Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle’s Brothers Are in the News—For Very Different Reasons

At some point today, it became known that James Middleton, brother to one Duchess Kate, had switched his Instagram profile from private to public. With that knowledge came a collective round of social media stalking in offices around the world, if headlines in TIME, Vanity Fair, The Cut and Cosmopolitan are anything to go by.

People have likely been ooh-ing and aww-ing all day over image after image of Middleton traipsing about the Scottish Highlands with a pack of adorable dogs, because his follower count has grown from about 15K this morning (according to Vanity Fair) to 30K by late afternoon. His account—which you can find under what I assume is his rap name, @JMidy—is so full of wholesome pictures of his pastoral lifestyle you can almost sniff the clean Scottish air.

There are wee baby birds.

Boats being built from scratch.

So. Many. Dogs.

Farm-to-table dining.

But while the world was drooling over J Midy and his virile beard, another brother-of-the-Duchess was up to, well, not-so-wholesome activities. Early reports say that Meghan Markle’s half-brother Thomas Markle Jr was arrested by Oregon State Police today for drunk driving. That certainly can’t be pleasant for Markle who’s been dealing with a lot of stress from her family lately. So how about we just ignore that piece of news and focus on this very outdoorsy fellow’s newly-unleashed treasure trove of photographs instead?

I mean, come on.
