Freed & Freed has teamed up with Indigo Arrows for a new face mask line
Two Winnipeg-based brands, Freed & Freed – best known for its made-in-Canada outerwear – and Anishinaabe interior design company Indigo Arrows have collaborated on a trio of adult-size face masks (there’s also one size for kids) that feature patterning derived from pottery pieces and bone tools made by ancestors of Indigo Arrows founder, Destiny Seymour.
100 per cent of proceeds from sales of the masks will go to The Butterfly Club, a local organization designed to engage, motivate and support Indigenous girls and Two-Spirit youth. “As the mother of two Indigenous daughters, I am so pleased to be able to raise funds for The Butterfly Club, by partnering with Freed & Freed on this collection of face masks inspired by my culture’s historic patterns,” Seymour said in a statement. “I have seen firsthand the opportunities that this program creates for Indigenous girls, and Two-Spirit youth, and believe that supporting the leaders of tomorrow is an investment in our future.”

City Shred and George Sully of Black Designers of Canada have partnered on a new shoe and digital workout event
Six celebrated Canadian coaches and trainers will come together for a virtual workout event and fundraiser on Saturday, December 12th at 12pm EST which celebrates the recent launch of the One Community Shoe, a sleek slip-on canvas design devised by George Sully – also the co-founder of the fashion brands Sully Wong and House of Hayla – and Instagram fitness community, City Shred.
The One Community shoe launch is part of the inspiring ‘Walk a Day in My Shoes’ campaign, and 100 per cent of net proceeds from sales go to the Children’s Aid Foundation of Canada. “I believe kids need an equal chance, and if given the tools, there is no limit,” Cheryl Willberg, Founder of City Shred, said in a press release. “We felt working with Children’s Aid Foundation of Canada was the perfect marriage in being able to highlight their programming in support of Black, Indigenous, and people of colour (BIPOC). Helping the next generation resonated with the City Shred team.”
In addition to the philanthropic footwear, the initiative encourages you to sweat it out with host Kevin Yeboah, Rolli Adenmosun, Raia ‘Coach’ Carey, Jay Jean Paul, Skylar Helm, CY Iwanegbe, and Jahmeek Taylor on the 12th during a Zoom-based fitness fundraiser.
