Calgary: Ski-bunny style

apr09jennym_270If you were to have asked Cheryl Janisch two years ago if she imagined her luxury skiwear line would be seen on Hollywood celebs, she would have laughed off the idea. But, this past January, this tale came true for the Calgary-based designer of Frost Sportiva (frostsportiva.com). Jenny McCarthy donned this sexy ski line while shooting the second installment of Santa Baby in Calgary.  And when co-star Dean McDermott’s wife, Tori Spelling, caught wind of the designs, she too had to own a piece of the collection.

The seed of Frost Sportiva came during a 2004 family ski vacation at Lake Louise–it became clear to Janisch that mountain fashion had been completely dominated by the snowboarding industry. One thing was certain: She would never be seen waddling around in snow pants with a crotch that sagged to her knees. Janisch set out to create a fashion forward skiwear line for sophisticated women who didn’t want to be mistaken for thirteen-year-old snow gangsters on the slopes.

Janisch designs for the athletic, urban professional woman, who loves to turn heads on and off the hill. The line, which starts at $395 for jackets and $275 for pants, is made of revolutionary soft shell fabrics and includes jackets, gloves, fur hats, pants, boot bags and my personal fave, the onesie with bustier top!  The collection is also Canadian made–something Janisch can’t help but take pride in.   Best part is, some pieces are transitional, so when you’ve taken your last run of the day, you can strut your gorgeous self directly into the lodge for some après ski fun.

If skiing isn’t your cup of cocoa, not to worry, Frost Sportiva will keep you warm and looking hot, no matter how low the temperature goes.
