Cartier’s new film features three live panthers, one Canadian supermodel, and millions of dollars in diamonds and gems
The premise behind L’Odyssée de Cartier sounds super for a fashion shoot—but even better for a three-minute film by Bruno Aveillan. The noted commercial director dreamed up a scenario that was anything but commercial—a diamond panther, sitting in the window of the Place Vendôme boutique, bursts into a live panther and escapes on an odyssey. His adventures include a prance through the Italian Dolomites (the team didn’t know if the animal would actually walk on the snow), a leap onto a biplane, and an encounter with an Indian elephant in Spain. The panther eventually winds up back in its little red box, lured there by Shalom Harlow. Cartier will introduce the film on Facebook today, but it really needs a big screen to appreciate the visual effects and original score.
