Caudalie Beauty Elixir: The Celeb-Fave Iconic Facial Mist Turns 20
When you think of iconic facial mists, undoubtedly Caudalie’s Beauty Elixir comes to mind. The cult fave product can be found on pretty much every beauty aficionado’s top shelf and is a go-to for makeup artists and celebrities alike (Liv Tyler has even said it’s her “favourite thing in the universe“).
But why the hype behind this $59 facial spray that is purchased by 22 Americans every hour?
Well, for starters, it’s inspired by an “elixir of youth” made for Queen Isabelle of Hungary in the 16th century. Legend has it the Queen’s complexion was so youthful and radiant, it charmed the King of Poland, a man 35 years her junior. Caudalie’s founder, Mathilde Thomas wanted to create a modern day version of this magical elixir, and in 1997, the Beauty Elixir was born.
The formula in itself is much more regal than your typical facial mist. Composed of 100 per cent natural ingredients, it’s infused with grape seed extract (like many a Caudalie beauty product), soothing orange flower blossom water and rosemary, mint and rose essential oils. The scent itself, which has hints of benzoin and myrrh, is luxurious, stimulating, yet refreshing and the cool burst from the fine mist will give you an instant pick-me-up, whether it’s mid-work day or during a long flight.
And sure, the Beauty Elixir has a hefty price tag (it is fit for a Queen, after all), but given its numerous benefits (tightening the appearance of pores, smoothing features and adding radiance to skin) and uses (makeup setting spray, toner, makeup revitalizer and room spray, to name a few), it’s well worth the cost. Besides, if Rosie Huntington-Whiteley agreed to be its official ambassador, you know it’s a must-have (because let’s face it, her skin is incredible).
The Caudalie Beauty Elixir retails for $59 for 100ml or $22 for a 30ml travel size and is available at Sephora, ca.caudalie.com and Caudalie Spa boutiques. And if you really want to channel your inner royal, you can nab the limited-edition, 20th anniversary gold bottle for the same price.
