Chanel is Taking its Cruise 2021 Show to Capri
For the first time since 2016, Chanel has announced that it will stage its annual Cruise presentation outside of Paris. In Capri, Italy, to be exact.
According to WWD, the brand has chosen to show its Cruise line at the Grand Palais in Paris for the past four years “to help the city counter the fallout from the 2015 terrorist attacks and to enhance its reputation as the global capital of fashion.” However, Italy has proven too alluring for the brand to resist with Bruno Pavlovsky, Chanel’s president of fashion, telling the site, “We are very happy to go to Italy, and even more so to go to Capri. It’s a very inspiring place, very inspiring for Virgine Viard. We have a lovely cruise show in the works.” He added, “For us, this remains an exceptional moment to express a real collection, with true creativity and and a real point of view that Chanel wants to incarnate today.”
Furthermore, in an official statement the brand said, “From the 1920s, Gabrielle Chanel offered her clients lightweight and comfortable designs for yachting, coastal resorts, spa towns and other various sunny destinations such as the Riviera and the Lido beaches of Venice,” highlighting the synergy between the brand and the island of Capri.
The show will also mark the second Cruise collection designed by Virginie since the passing of Karl Lagerfeld earlier this year.
The brand has been known to take the fash pack to a range of far-flung, fashionable destinations like Dubai, Saint-Tropez, Havana, Salzburg, Rome and more, for its annual presentations – and we suspect this one is going to be particularly magical.
Chanel’s Cruise 2021 show will be held on May 7, 2020.
