Christian Louboutin Beauté’s New Mascara Will Cost You a Whopping $70
When it comes to Christian Louboutin Beauté, the prices can leave you weeping into your wallet. The nail polish will set you back $58, while the lipsticks can cost as much as $120.
So no one should bat an eyelash over the price tags of the luxury beauty brand’s latest offerings—eye makeup—with a liquid eyeliner going for $75 USD and a “Lash Amplifying Lacquer” mascara costing a cool $70 USD.
The four-piece Les Yeux Noirs collection is said to be inspired by Louboutin’s beauty icons, Queen Nefertiti, and her infamous sculpted eyes. The line will include the eyeliner and mascara, along with a $40 Oeil Velours Velvet Eye Definer eyeliner pencil and $40 Brow Definer eyebrow pencils.
The mascara will be available in two shades (black and Sevillana, a rich burgundy), while the Oeil Vinyle Luminous Ink Liner will be offered in classic black and Christian Louboutin red.
But the real fun shades can be found in the eyeliner, with canary yellow, plum, peacock blue and auburn as options. According to a statement from the brand, Louboutin wanted to “capture the opulent decorative style of India, as seen in Kathakali, a form of classical Indian dance.”
“The dancers are known for their extravagant makeup, including elaborately drawn eyes, bringing attention to their dramatic eye movements and expressions, which are integral parts of dance. The country’s rich culture and colours translated to products luxuriously saturated with rich pigments for the purest and deepest impact,” said the statement.
Noticeably absent, however, is eyeshadow, though Catherine Ruggiero, general manager of Christian Louboutin Beauté, tells WWD we can expect it “at some point.”
“This is very much what Christian [Louboutin] wanted to do — to once again give women a tool to enhance something that allows them to control how people perceive them. It’s about taking ownership, and the way you do that in eye makeup is through eyebrows, liners and lashes,” she told the publication.
And of course, the packaging is as opulent as you’d expect, with Louboutin once again turning to ancient Egypt for inspo. You’ll find Egyptian motifs of lotus flower petals and obelisks masks combined with Art Deco geometry on these “modern objets d’art,” according to the brand.
The Christian Louboutin Les Yeux Noirs collection will be released March 23, which means we have roughly a month to start saving.
