Clinique Announces Emilia Clarke as Its First Ever Global Brand Ambassador
Beauty giant Clinique has this morning unveiled its first ever global brand ambassador for skincare and makeup – and it’s none other than Emilia Clarke.
Beginning today, Clarke will appear in a series of campaigns for the brand, starting with its iD collection. The iD collection was recently expanded to include the Dramatically Different Moisturizing BB-Gel and Dramatically Different Moisturizing Tone-Up Gel. As a result, the collection “now delivers 25 unique combinations allowing consumers to create their own custom-blend moisturizer to hydrate and treat their unique skin concerns,” according to a statement from the brand. The campaign will also include a social media series, called #iDYourself, in which Clarke will share more about her own personal skincare journey.
In a statement, the former Game of Thrones actress said of her appointment, “I am so proud to join Clinique as the new global brand ambassador. It is a skincare brand I have regularly used and to now be a part of that family is such an honour. I love the confidence and happiness it brings to the people using their products. Not only is Clinique timeless, but I’m proud to work with a brand that makes people feel included for who they are, and is unapologetic about helping them to create great skin – no matter what their skin concern is.”
Last year, Clarke opened up about surviving two brain aneurysms, penning an honest note for The New Yorker ahead of sharing photos of herself after she underwent brain surgery as a result. These experiences led her to start the charity SAMEYOU whose mission is to help revolutionize recovery for young adults who have suffered brain injury and strokes.
Jane Lauder, the global brand president for Clinique, described Clarke as “optimistic, happy in her skin and [someone who] embodies a modern, multi-faceted woman who is constantly evolving along with her skincare needs.” She also added that the actress’ genuine interest in the brand, and the fact that she has previously used the products, was “important” to the company. “Emilia will lend her impactful voice to help inspire consumers to embrace their own unique skincare journey,” she said.
