Coach Collaborates With Disney on a “Dark Fairy Tale” Collection

Coach is taking a darker twist on Disney classics  Snow White and Sleeping Beauty with their newest venture, Disney x Coach: A Dark Fairy Tale. The luxury brand has styled their pre-fall 2018 line of ready-to-wear clothing and leather goods to play with the gothic undertones these Disney films.

The collection plays homage to icons of the films such as the a poisoned apples and cartoon eyes from Snow White‘s haunted forest. There are also the names of the seven dwarves in a graffiti-esque font and a spooky take on Sleeping Beauty‘s castle. “It was fun to explore the darker side of these stories and mix Disney’s nostalgic charm with Coach’s creativity to bring my memories from these fairy tales to life within our world of accessories and ready-to-wear. The Disney spirit truly reinforces the new youthful perspective we are bringing to luxury at Coach,” said Coach creative director Stuart Vevers in a statement.

This is Vevers third collaboration with Disney since he assumed his role as their creative director in 2013. The previous partnership created respective lines for Mickey Mouse in 2016 and Minnie Mouse earlier this year, keeping with the fun and joyful brand of Disney. The leather goods and clothing of the first two partnerships featured classic symbols from the world of Disney like bags topped with mouse ears and clothing featuring drawings of Mickey himself. This newest venture differs, as it is the first to focus on two specific films from the franchise while remaining true to some of label’s aesthetic. The presence of Coach’s signature print can be seen throughout the line, making this a marriage between the two rather than an embodiment of Disney on Coach’s part.

The newest collaboration is available for pre-order online and exclusively at the label’s SoHo location in NYC. On May 14, Coach locations worldwide will sell the collection, as well as online.
