What would our Instagram feeds be like without Coachella? 2013’s music season is officially underway and its always-awesome burst of festival fashion couldn’t have come at a more welcome time. While the rest of us were begging for anything over 10˚c, we lived vicariously through shots of Man Repeller’s Leandra Medine and Alexa Chung bathing in the Californian sun while they, and the rest of the massive crowd, enjoyed epic sets but some of music’s greats (ahem Red Hot Chili Peppers, Stone Roses, New Order) and one very special video preview of Daft Punk’s much anticipated new album. Ah, the life.
To capture all of the on and offsite awesomeness, L.A-based photographer Paley Fairman hit several of the festival’s hotspots. Coachella is always big business and 2013’s first weekend was certainly no slouch in the party department. While the festival raged on in Indio, brands like Lacoste, Boss Orange and Diesel set up shop at nearby hotels and mansions delighting VIPs with pool parties, booze and celeb sets from the likes of Eve, Harley Viera-Newton and newly anointed It girl Chelsea Leyland.
Traditional festival fashion—think flower crowns, lace boho dresses, jean shorts and statement sunglasses—were certainly on show but this year, it looked like Spring 2013’s 1990s trend influence had infiltrated more than ever. Gwen Stefani style tight knots, cropped skater blouses and orthopedic flatforms were all welcome additions to Coachella’s 2013 game.
So, without further ado, let the festival fashion jealousy ensue!
