Critics’ Choice Awards 2018: The Standout Beauty Looks of the Night
Awards season has officially kicked off, with both the Golden Globes and now the Critics’ Choice Awards behind us. The latter, which aired last night, was hosted by Olivia Munn and saw a wide variety of hair and makeup looks on the red carpet. Below, we’ve hand-picked some of our favourite looks of the night.
Sarah Hyland
Hrush Achemyan (who you may remember showed us how to contour last year!) worked her magic on Sarah Hyland, painting on a classic red lip and black eyeliner combo that paired perfectly with Hyland’s slicked back bun.
Kate Bosworth
Hung Vanngo went for a monochromatic, rust-coloured look for Kate Bosworth, applying Chanel and Marc Jacobs Beauty shades in the same colour family on her lips, eyes and cheeks.
Jamie Alexander
On Jamie Alexander, hairstylist Matt Fugate crafted what he called a “romantic rumpled mohawk.”
Yara Shahidi
Yara Shahidi let her dress do the talking and went with minimal hair and makeup, but don’t think we didn’t notice those pretty, pale yellow nails!
Olivia Munn
The evening’s host had multiple looks, but for the red carpet she chose a classic: silky waves, warm eyeshadow and nude lip gloss, thanks to an A-list team made up of Chad Wood and Mary Phillips.
Alison Brie
The peachy tones on Alison Brie’s eye matched her dress beautifully, while her soft, romantic half-updo by Peter Butler tied the whole dreamy look together.
Saoirse Ronan
Makeup artist Kara Yoshimoto Bua used Chanel makeup to give Saoirse Ronan a cool, goth vibe, minimal eye makeup and almost-black lip and all.
Jessica Biel
On the other end of the spectrum, Kara Yoshimoto Bua also did Jessica Biel’s makeup, pairing her classic, Old Hollywood waves with an even-more-classic matte red lip.
Leslie Mann
Makeup artist Jo Baker and hairstylist Ted Gibson created a fresh, dewy look on Leslie Mann that was inspired by Bianca Jagger.
