Dan Levy’s ‘Don’t Go Bacon My Heart’ Caesar is *Very* Canadian
Happy National Caesar Day, world!
To celebrate this very special day (May 18), Canadian actor and star/writer/producer of Schitt’s Creek, Dan Levy, has created the official Caesar of 2017, aptly called “Don’t Go Bacon My Heart.” The reason? Two strips of maple bacon (a Dan Levy speciality) added to the garnish.
But that’s not all! You can also find a tater tot, a Timbit (another nod to Canada) and even a breakfast sandwich (heart-shaped) on top of Levy’s very special drink.
As for the Caesar itself? It’s got your classic fixings of vodka, hot sauce, Mott’s Clamato (a mixture of Extra Spicy and Pickled Bean), horseradish and Worcestershire sauce, along with two very special ingredients: truffle salt and green olive juice. And guys, believe us when we say it’s good.
Watch the video above to see Dan put together this delicious drink, and check out the recipe below to make your own.
Don’t Go Bacon My Heart
1 oz (30 mL) vodka
4 generous dashes of Worcestershire sauce
4 generous dashes of hot sauce
1/4 oz (7.5 mL) green olive juice
1 teaspoon white horseradish
3 pinches of truffle salt
4 grinds of cracked pepper
Mott’s Clamato Extra Spicy and Pickled Bean Cocktail (half and half)
Garnish: Two strips of maple bacon (baked in the oven until crispy), one mini egg slider, two tater tots and a cruller donut hole
Rim a highball glass with juice from a lemon wedge and celery salt. Fill the glass halfway with ice and add ingredients in the order listed above. Squeeze the lemon wedge into the glass, stir well, place bacon on top of the glass and use a skewer to attach the garnishes for placement on the bacon.
