Diddy Invited a Bunch of Celebs to His Instagram Dance-a-Thon Fundraiser
On Easter Sunday, rapper and producer Sean “Diddy” Combs held the “world’s biggest dance-a-thon” on Instagram Live, encouraging his 16.5 million followers to make donations to COVID-19 relief efforts at TeamLove.com. DJ D-Nice kicked off the party on Sunday afternoon with a DJ set, and celebs like Jennifer Lopez, Drake, Billy Porter, Rita Wilson and LeBron James joined in over the course of the afternoon.
“Me and my family are having a dance-a-thon—the whole world is invited,” Diddy said in an Instagram post announcing the virtual event on Friday. “We on lockdown, but we want to dance.”
DJ Khaled, one of the first guests to join in, took a moment to remind viewers to stay home in an effort to flatten the curve: “Us staying at home, that means we love our mothers and fathers, that means we love our healthcare workers, that means we love our babies, our kids,” he said.
Diddy’s six children joined the party for the all-day charity event in support of healthcare workers, doing the now-viral “Toosie Slide” dance with Drake himself, who released the song earlier this month.

Later in the day, Diddy was joined by his ex Jennifer Lopez, who danced the meringue with him to Elvis Crespo’s “Suavemente.” Her fiance Alex Rodriguez, who she claimed on IG Live is Diddy’s “biggest fan,” also made an appearance. “Puffy, Puffy, you have to know this, because I don’t think you know this,” said Lopez. “This guy right here is your biggest fan from the ‘Bad Boy’ era. Any party we do, anything, it’s like, ‘Put on Puffy and Mase!’”

Team Love, which Diddy encouraged his followers to donate to over the course of the day, has partnered with Direct Relief—a nonprofit humanitarian aid organization—to support the organization’s emergency response to COVID-19. As of April 12, Team Love had raised over $3 million in donations in support of frontline workers, and by 6.45pm EST on Sunday, Diddy announced that they’d hit $4 million.
