Dressing for an Outdoor Wedding: Our Style Panel Weighs In
It’s officially summer. You know what that means – wedding season has arrived! The short period we have with no snow often comes with a rush of lovebirds looking to tie the knot in a sunny outdoor ceremony. For us, that means coming to terms with the ever present question: what do I wear? Through the sweltering heat and humidity, the wind and the freshly cut grass, it can be tricky to master the art of the stylishly dressed summer wedding guest, so we turned to our style panel for their tips on what to wear for that special day.

“I like to match the cheerfulness of the summer vibe when attending outdoor weddings. Gingham print would be my first choice because it’s a perfect summer print that reminds me of happy, leisurely picnics. It’s also not too loud of a print, so I don’t have to worry about grabbing unnecessary attention from the bride and groom.”

“Outdoor weddings typically have an elegant yet relaxed vibe, so I would avoid the typical cocktail dress and go for something super romantic. The length and hem detailing on this vintage dress is festive and event-appropriate, but the loose silhouette and comfortable fabric adds subtle casual vibes. Despite the impracticality of a stiletto heel on grass, we only have a short period of warm weather in which to wear stunning footwear, so I say go for it!”

“For outdoor summer weddings, the issue is always dressing for the weather. It tends to get hot and humid which is never fun. For practically any occasion, you can either beat the heat by wearing strapless or opt for what I did – which was have mesh on the sleeves. This sleeve is perfect because it looks incredibly chic, but I’m not too warm. The embroidery (which is my addiction), adds an elegant touch.”

“Finding the perfect dress for a wedding can definitely be challenging. It’s all about balancing looking your best, while not outshining the bride.
For an outdoor wedding, I prefer to keep things clean and simple – an easy, breezy dress with minimal accessories. This feminine, off-the-shoulder dress is summer appropriate and classy enough for formal events. I love the bell sleeves and the tiered silhouette, which bring a fresh twist to the timeless style. I finished the look with colourful heels for a fun touch.”
Liat is wearing: Dress, Club Monaco; Shoes, Aldo; Clutch, Poppy&Peonies; Sunglasses, Free People; Necklace, Cos
Mikayla Kuehn, 20

“This deep green dress with bow details is perfect for an outdoor wedding. I paired it with flats for comfort – no need to have heels getting stuck in the ground!”
