DSquared comes home
By Amanda Losier
The CTV building at Queen and John was transformed into fashion central on Sunday night when it was taken over by the marvelous Dean and Dan Caten fashion show, presented by FashionTelevision. The world famous fashion designers were there to present their Fall 2008 DSquared collection, which they first showed in Milan this past February.

The night started with cocktails before the show and eventually everyone took their seats. I spotted actresses Sophia Bush, Jill Hennessy and Kelly Carlson and a few people from the cast of MTV Canada and eTalk. The show began with music by Kreesha Turner singing her hit song “Don’t Call Me Baby.” The started with curtains dropping to reveal models standing on elevated platforms, all sporting fabulous fall trends. My favourites included bright winter scarves paired with long winter coats for the men camel-coloured office wear for women. The looks also included ponchos matched with knee-length skirts, a red dress matched with long black gloves and puffy coats with fur collars and skinny black ties with plaid-collared dress shirts on the guys. The show closed with Dean and Dan taking the final walk with the models and then joining Kreesha Turner for a group hug. The event was sponsored by M.A.C and guests were invited to their Gold Fever after party, which was a solid gold flashback to the ’70s: male models sported gold underwear, go-go dancers rocked gold Afros and disco balls (gold, of course) hung from the ceiling.
I thoroughly enjoyed the event and found myself wishing that the fashion show had lasted longer. I was left wanting more, so I’ll have to tune in to CTV Saturday at 7 p.m to watch FT’s Dean & Dan: Born in Canada, Made in Italy special.
