If there’s one thing we look forward to in dreary January, it’s Couture week. But instead of just being the usual OTT fare, there were a few surprises. The totally chill bridal get-up complete with hoodie at Chanel made us wonder if Karl got a memo from Kanye, while the bevy of sleek pantsuits totally disrupted our expectations. Nonetheless, designers did not disappoint—we’re predicting some of these pieces to end up on the backs of A-listers on the red carpet. Here, our editors share their fave looks from the collections for your viewing pleasure.

Viktor & Rolf
“Only Viktor & Rolf could take something as ordinary as a white polo tee, marry it with cubism, and turn out a collection that takes wearable art to a whole new level.”

Elie Saab
“Elie Saab’s shows never cease to amaze me. With a soft spot for embroidered princess gowns, it’s not easy to narrow down my fave look, but there is something about this ice queen-like gown that makes me want to pin it on my Pinterest account over and over again.”

Giambattista Valli
“I feel like this gown is a fresh take on Audrey Hepburn’s iconic dress in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. I love that it’s classic and black yet has a bit of sass.”

Alexandre Vauthier
“For those of us who don’t attend parties all day and night, this Spring Couture look has a fierce ‘Oh this? I just pulled it out of the closet,’ vibe. A modern military inspired jacket with loose pants and roomy pockets. #perfect”

Alexis Mabille
“A super sexy take on tux dressing—the plunging neckline and flirty feathers are meant for the red carpet, or painting the town red.”
—Sarah Casselman, Senior Editor, Fashion News
Schiaparelli
“Lobster is basically the couture of the dinner menu: it’s made to order, reserved for special occasions, and you have to pay an exorbitant market price for it. A famous hallmark of Schiaparelli’s work, Spring 2016’s iteration of the lobster was served up on a silver platter, evoking images of hearth and home—enjoyments which have become luxuries in today’s frantically paced world. Delectable.”

Yiqing Yin
“This collection was titled “Blooming Ashes” and featured plenty of grey, laser-cut leather, and so much nipple. The show opened with this grey bra top + half-sheer pencil skirt combo that I find myself surprisingly drawn to. Apparently I’m a bigger fan of the naked dress than I thought. Call it the Kardashian effect.”

“There’s a lot going on in this dress for my liking (read: ruffles, rose appliques and cut-outs), yet it’s still simple and elegant.”
