Edmonton: A stop for teeny-tiny label hounds
What is the one thing that comes close to giving you the same high you experience after purchasing fab designer clothing for yourself? Purchasing fab designer clothing for your little ones of course! If you’ve seen Suri, Kingston, Apple or Maddox wearing something ultra-cool, chances are you’ll find it at Amylou Boutique (2325 Rabbit Hill Rd., 780-432-3534, amylouboutique.com).
When it comes to stocking their shelves, owners Amanda Olivari and Laura Norby often look to Hollywood’s mini-me set for inspiration. They also pride themselves on being the first or only children’s wear boutique in Canada to carry many hard-to-find designer labels. The stock list includes Harajuku Lovers, Monster Industry, Kingsley, Childish, Kumquat, Lola and James and Wonderboy. My personal favorite are the one-of-a-kind dresses made by Kaos Recycled from concert tees (think Rolling Stones and Blondie). The shop takes exclusivity seriously: “We’ll stop carrying a line if it becomes too popular or can be found at other stores,” says Olivari.
Even if you don’t have a toddler in tow, a trip to the shop is worth it to pick up if only to coo over the teeny tiny pairs of designer denim from lines such as Rock & Republic, Joe’s Jeans, 7 For All Mankind, Diesel and True Religion. [For big girl jeans, check out our Ultimate Fall Denim Guide]
