Edmonton: Southgate Centre ups their fashion ante
I am feeling a little faint, my heart is pounding inside my chest, my hands have started to tremble and I am using every ounce of will power I have to prevent myself from jumping up and down and screaming. No, I have not just won the lottery, it’s something even better: I just finished a phone call with Claire Salaysay, Southgate Centre’s (780-435-3721, southgate.shopping.ca) marketing director, where she rhymed off the shops that will be part of Southgate’s 155,000-square foot expansion.
The list reads like a fashion girl’s little black book: Coach, Sephora, Zara, Browns, Püsch, BCBG, Banana Republic, Guess and Edmonton’s first free-standing Kiehl’s store (perfect timing as I am just about to run out of my Supremely Gentle Eye Make-Up Remover!). The new shops will join Southgate’s current roster of stellar stores, including Blu’s, Aritzia, Moltisanti, the Bay, Gap and M.A.C. On the downside, I am going to have to come up with a new excuse for showing up late to my mani/pedi appointments at EvelineCharles. (Two years of construction, detours and parking nightmares have given me ample material.) The week-long grand opening is slated for August 5 to 9 and will include entertainment and prizes and promises to be one of Edmonton’s hottest and most anticipated events this summer. See you there!
