Emily Hampshire is Launching a YouTube Show to Raise Funds for COVID-19 Relief
Schitt’s Creek star Emily Hampshire has a new project lined up: starting April 1, she will be hosting a weekly live-streamed talk show on YouTube titled Humpday With Hampshire. The show will raise money for The Actors Fund to help members of the entertainment industry (not just actors but also writers, agents, makeup artists, technicians and others) affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The show will stream Wednesdays at 2pm PST/5pm EST on The Actors Fund YouTube channel and will feature virtual interviews with celebrities from their homes, sharing advice on how to get through this unprecedented time. The show will also feature quarantine-themed games like “Show Us Your Junk (Drawer)”, “What is your quarROUTINE”, and “Phone a Friend Roulette.”
“I couldn’t ask for a better creative distraction than hosting a show that not only helps raise money for an important cause, but also lets me connect with a dream team roster of guests without having to leave my apartment or even put on pants!” said Hampshire in a statement. “There’s such an insane amount of stress in the world right now, and if we can do something a little fun for all the stir-crazy people out there and help the industry, that means everything to me.
While the full roster of guests hasn’t yet been revealed, the confirmed initial lineup includes Schitt’s Creek co-star Annie Murphy, 2018 Olympic Bronze medalist Adam Rippon and Queer Eye’s design expert Bobby Berk. All proceeds from viewer donations will go directly to The Actors Fund which is a 501c3 non-profit organization.
Last week, a special one-night-only return of Rosie O’Donnell’s talk show, featuring virtual interviews with celebrities like Billy Porter, Sarah Jessica Parker and Idina Menzel, raised more than USD 600,000 in support of The Actors Fund. To continue fundraising for the entertainment industry, Humpday With Hampshire will live-stream weekly until film, television and theatre productions are back up and running.
