Everything that Upset the Internet this Week

What is the web-o-sphere angry about right now? A new bachelor, a nude pic, and a children’s clothing line. If these are the causes you plan on championing this weekend, here’s everything you need to know.

Arie will be the next Bachelor

THE STORY: ABC has named Arie Luyendyk Jr. the next bachelor. “Who the heck is Arie?” (You might be thinking.) He was the runner up from Emily Maynard’s season back in 2012.

THE REACTION:

RIGHTEOUSNESS OF THE RAGE: Those who are *actually* in Bachelor Nation will remember Arie — he was a fan favourite. A 35-years-old race car driver, Arie might be down-to-earth guy the series needs after Nick Viall. Still, Arie is no Peter Kraus.

Disney casted a white guy for “new” Aladdin role

THE STORY: Billy Magnussen is joining the cast of Aladdin to play a new character that wasn’t in the 1992 animated version. The catch? Magnussen is white.

THE REACTION:

RIGHTEOUSNESS OF THE RAGE: Let’s wait until we see the movie (or at least the trailer) to outrage. Maybe the new character is a visiting prince from Britain? Who knows.

John Lewis Makes Gender-Neutral Children’s Clothing Line

THE STORY: U.K. clothing brand John Lewis just released Boys and Girls, a gender-neutral clothing line for children. “We do not want to reinforce gender stereotypes and instead want to provide greater choice,” the company said in a statement.

THE REACTION:

RIGHTEOUSNESS OF THE RAGE: Gender stereotyping is lame. And even if you disagree: do you really think that a dinosaur printed t-shirt is going to effect a child’s mental health. Sorry, it won’t. Clothing has always been gender neutral — now we’re just dropping the labels.

Kim Kardashian poses naked in a tree

THE STORY: Kim, the OG Internet-breaking naked Kardashian, posted a nude photo in a tree. “So honored to have been photographed by Mert and Marcus for their new book. 20 years in the making! It’s out Sept 7th,” she captioned the post.

THE REACTION:

RIGHTEOUSNESS OF THE RAGE: Hey, you wouldn’t expect Donald Trump to post a nude photo, would you? So let’s not expect Kimmy K to get too political. Oranges and apples. That said, Kim did delete the photo. Even she realizes things don’t always need to be about her.
