Exclusive: On set for fall with Line Knitwear!
When the Canadian design duo behind Line, John Muscat and Jennifer Wells, created their first collection in 2000, they were seeking a common ground between comfort and luxury using jersey, silk and leather. Just over a decade later, after garnering fame for their ultra-luxe knits, they’re one of the hottest labels around, scoring celebrity fans such as Sarah Jessica Parker, Taylor Swift and Sandra Bullock. Earlier this week, we hopped in a cab and headed over to get the exclusive sneak peek on the set of their fall 2011 look book shoot, featuring Canadian model Amanda Laine.
The duo referred to the inspiration behind their fall collection as the “Migrant Muse”, a nomadic, European woman during the 1940s, swathed in layers of chunky cabled knits, plenty of patchwork prints, accented by luxurious touches of fur and leather. “We worked with our own printmaker to reinterpret prints found on these carpets we came across during travels to Europe,” said Wells. On set, wardrobe stylist Juliana Schiavinatto and make-up artist Susana Hong transformed Amanda into the muse with exclusive pieces by the duo including leather booties, intricate floral rings and leather belts made especially for the shoot. “Amanda has the perfect dark, curly hair and skin tone for the colour palette [of the collection],” says Muscat. “That, and of course she is gorgeous!”
