HUGE. Audacious. Full Fat Lashes. Mascaras have never failed to be dramatic with their names, but they often fail to…work. But this fall, our go-to beauty product is out to impress. Rather than catching our eye with bold packaging and massive promises, and then leaving our lashes looking anything but eye-catching, these three new Fall 2015 mascaras are a breath of fresh air. (Read: we tested out a bunch of mascaras and these three were the most memorable, dramatic and felt new.)
ICYMI, eyelashes have been a focal point on the runway for a couple of seasons now, and luckily for us, we’ve been given products that make it easy to talk about them in a way that feels modern. Clumpy, coloured and glitter-tipped lashes have made appearances that we’re welcoming with wide-open arms (and eyes).
See our favourite Fall 2015 mascara releases (okay fine, Charlotte Tilbury‘s has been out since June but it’s become a permanent fixture in our makeup kits).
fall 2015 mascara
NARS Audacious Mascara, ($36, sephora.com)
Okay look, this is coming from a mascara freak who does not know any limits, and I’m telling you this one is not for the faint of heart. With over 200 rubberized bristles, Audacious separates and lengthens like crazy.
The formula is almost silky and doesn’t dry out all day long, making it super easy to build up and take your lashes from day to night. Really, it’s like conditioner for your lashes (your suddenly insanely long lashes).
That being said, straight-lashed girls, you’ll definitely need a lash curler (if you don’t usually use one). Because the lengthening formula is so intense, long, straight lashes definitely look longer, but their straightness is um, more obvious than ever.
fall 2015 mascara
Stila Huge Extreme Lash Mascara, ($30,sephora.com)
This is the mascara I’m wearing as I type this, and I keep stopping mid-sentence to admire my lashes in a mirror. Seriously, I just did it again. As a huge fan of last year’s Stila release, Mile High Lashes, I was expecting to be blown away by Huge, and I really was (am).
The wand features “dense yet flexible, crimped fibers that work to pull lashes up and out, coating every last hair.” So, yes, let’s talk about the wand. You know that incredible feeling you get when you run your fingers through your hair after the best blowout you’ve ever had? Pulling this full and lush wand out of the tube is that satisfying.
If you’re going for the closest thing you can get to false lashes without wearing falsies, this is your new best friend.
fall 2015 mascara
Charlotte Tilbury, Full Fat Lashes ($34,charlottetilbury.com)
This one’s been out in Canada since the launch of Charlotte Tilbury’s makeup line at Holt Renfew in June, but it made it on the list because it’s become such a go-to. If what you’re after is neither mind-blowing length (like Nars) or insane volume (like Stila), then Charlotte Tilbury’s Full Fat Lashes is your best bet.
An all-around excellent mascara, the glossy black formula is easily buildable throughout the day and creates the most believably gorgeous lashes (read: if you want to fake Kardashian lashes, this isn’t for you).
It calls itself a 5-in-1: curl, separation, volume, length, and drama—a claim it can actually back up. We’re particularly sold on its curling and separating abilities that create a beautiful flutter of lashes; nothing more and nothing less.
