Fashion news: Karl gets Goofy, Robert Duffy to wed and Nygård connected to factory allegedly practicing human trafficking
Peter Nygård is under fire for using a Jordanian factory that allegedly partakes in human trafficking. According to a National Labor Committee report, the International British Garments factory–which sews Nygård’s Alia, Tan Jay and Investments labels–is said to have taken 1,200 workers’ passports, and “has held them as indentured servants.” Nygård International claims they had no knowledge of the allegations and are launching their own investigation. At the launch party for the new Mini Countryman car, Dsquared‘s Dean and Dan Caten showed off their Canadian heritage. To show the small car’s versatility, Mini asked four fashion designers to pack the new model with everything they’d take on a weekend getaway. The Caten brothers managed to finagle a canoe onto the roof, but also packed a lantern, fishing rod, picnic basket and a guitar for the trip. [Vogue UK]

Selfridges has announced the creation of the largest shoe store in the world, which will be built in the UK by architect Jamie Forbert. Supposedly there will be six different shoe salons and ten separate brand specific boutiques, including Stella McCartney, Chloé and Rodarte.
Fashion’s Night Out is looking to retailers to snatch up FNO-branded merch, to raise the hype around the shopping event this September. Pieces from the collection include both men’s and women’s tees, a long-sleeved T-shirt, a women’s tank top and a unisex hoodie with a cityscape print. [WWD]
