Rumours were rampant of a break up, but the two recently attended tattoo artist Scott Campbell’s art show opening beaming, hand-in-hand. “They were talking about coming in and getting something together,” said Campbell of the duo. The former CEO of Hermès International has passed away at the age of 72. The ever-dapper Jean-Louis Dumas, a fifth-generation descendant of founder Thierry Hermès, steered the company from 1978 to 2006. He died on Saturday ,and although he was known to have been fighting a long battle with Parkinson’s disease, the official cause of death has not yet been revealed. [WWD]
Clog mystery cracked? According to the Toronto Star, Bata Shoe Museum curator Elizabeth Semmelhack traces the new popularity of clog–as seen clogging the runways of Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Celine–back to their “ugly cousin,” the Croc. In the article, Toronto fashion stars share their memories of the shoe. Says our own fashion director Susie Sheffman: “I lived in clogs in high school. I could run a marathon in my clogs back in those days. I even wrote cheat notes on the wooden heel of my clogs.” [Toronto Star]
It turns out, being Anna Wintour‘s sidekick for a week will cost you a modest US$42, 500. Vogue has auctioned off a week-long internship, boasting that “Just Being Near [editor-in-chief Anna Wintour] Will Make You Chic,” with proceeds going to a human rights charity. There’s always lots of buzz around the First Lady’s consistent red carpet glam. Michelle Obama is the belle of the ball again, this time at the White House Correspondents Dinner in an off-the-shoulder gown by Prabal Gurung. The First Lady was also wearing two chunky, bejewelled cuffs from Bochic and Sutra Jewels, the bottom containing ten carats of raspberry tourmaline and rose-cut diamonds, the top costing US$17, 500. With all that hardware weighing down her left arm, it’s almost surprising she was able to lift her fork. [The Cut]
