Fashion news: Marc Jacobs makes the Time 100, Armani pairs up with Reebok and the Prada alphabet

Models are appearing in more ads than celebrities, suggesting a turn of the tide in celebrity-heavy spots. Karl Lagerfeld cites celeb overexposure, while the Marilyn Agency’s Robert Ferrell suggests the economic crisis might have something to do it–having a celebrity can “double or triple” the budget. YSL designer Stefano Pilati just plain likes to work with models: “[Actresses] have an attitude, but will never be the fashion attitude. To me, fashion photography is with a model; otherwise, it’s a portrait.” [WWD]
Emporio Armani and Reebok have created a footwear and fitness apparel label, dubbed EA7, which, on top of running tanks, work-out pants and fleece hoodies, will include harem pants so you can fit in with the weightlifters, we suppose. [WWD]
The world’s 10 most powerful luxury brands, according to brand strategy firm Millward Brown Optimor, are Louis Vuitton, Hermès, Gucci, Chanel, Hennessey, Rolex, Moët & Chandon, Cartier, Fendi and Tiffany & Co. A pair of graphic artists have created a set of alphabet tees for Prada. The abstract letters P-R-A-D-A-M (the M standing for Milano) are made up of “cleaning implements, Italian phrases, strange machines and a picture of two men standing on a balcony.” You can buy the full set of six, which includes 64-page album, or order other letters individually.
