Finally, something you CAN wear to support PETA
Not only is being vegan the diet du jour for what feels like most of Instagram these days (thank you, Beyoncé), but it’s also been on our trend radars for the past few seasons. The common perception of vegan fashion is that it’s more about what you can’t wear vs. what you can, but there is actually a significant cohort of brands turning out socially conscious designs without sacrificing style in the process.
M4D3 (Make A Difference Every Day) is one such label who believes not only in creating quality products, but in affecting positive change with them. Their decision to partner with PETA, which boasts more than three million supporters worldwide, on a limited edition footwear collection united their visions for a future of animal and eco-friendly fashion.
The use of vegan leather not only spares cows the painful mutilation process leather extraction demands, but it also protects the environment from highly toxic mineral salts, formaldehyde, coal-tar derivatives, and various oils, dyes, and finishes used by tanneries that often pollute nearby water and soil.
The M4D3 x PETA collection features espadrille-style shoes with vegan leather tops and jute covered outsoles in black, white, and navy. Available online, they are priced at $50 with a portion of the proceeds going to help fund PETA’s efforts to raise awareness and change against animal cruelty in the clothing industry.
