Five Canadian Creatives On Their Holiday Fashion Essentials
We all have our favourite things—from go-to shades of lipstick to a pair of confidence-boosting shoes. These items usually have a unique way of elevating not only your look, but also your spirits, and especially so during the holiday season. It doesn’t matter if you’re dressing up for a glamorous party or preparing to host yourself, it’s always better when you have your essentials on hand.
With festivities only a few short days away, we decided to connect with five Canadian creatives and ask them about their favourite fashion essentials, holiday traditions, and how they most enjoy a glass of Meiomi Pinot Noir.
Cher Bai
Cher Bai is a Toronto-based digital fashion and lifestyle content creator and the voice behind her blog CHERMYCLOSET. This holiday season, she’s most looking forward to getting together with her friends and family in cozier, more intimate gatherings and pampering each other with gifts. “This is kind of our tradition.”
What’s your go-to holiday fashion essential?
“Definitely a red lip! My go-to red lipstick is TomFord 16 Scarlet Rouge. It’s the perfect red shade for my skin tone and compliments all my holiday looks.”
What’s your favourite way to enjoy Meiomi Pinot Noir?
“I love Meiomi’s Pinot Noir because it’s bold and full-bodied with layers of fruity notes and some oakiness. Plus, it’s perfect for every occasion—date night, family dinner, parties with friends, you name it. It’s full of flavour and smooth, everyone loves it.”
Steven Branco
Steven Branco is a Toronto-based creative/fashion director and an on-air lifestyle expert. After spending time apart from his family and friends last holiday season, he’s looking forward to every opportunity to get together this year (safely, of course)—from cocktail and dinner parties to more intimate lunches. “Just about any reason to get together and reconnect with family, friends and even coworkers and unwind.”
What’s your go-to holiday fashion essential?
“Hands down one of my Parfums de Marly fragrances. Most recently, Godolphin. I always get complimented for it. It’s just so rich and long-lasting that I don’t have to worry about touching it up at all through the night.
“I would also say my favourite shoes and for a while now, it’s been my Dandelion Christian Louboutin spiked loafers because they’re epic and make me feel special. They were a gift from my partner, so they also have extra sentimental value, but I wear ’em whenever I need to feel glam or just that extra boost of confidence. The best part is that they’re now finally comfortable, but it took some time to wear them in—so I can dance all night during the holiday season.”
What’s your favourite way to enjoy Meiomi Pinot Noir?
“It’s honestly great for a multitude of occasions, but I personally love it while relaxing at home with some snacks while watching a movie or catching up with drinks on a night in. Everyone in our circle knows we love Meiomi and always have a stock of it.”
Martin Barclay
Martin Barclay is a Vancouver-based men’s fashion content creator and designer with his own men’s accessory label, Tyrock Barclay. When it comes to the holiday season, his favourite tradition is watching Christmas episodes of his favourite TV shows, including The O.C.’s “The Best Chrismukkah Ever”— “It’s my guilty pleasure,” he says. Martin also enjoys giving gifts to his close circle. “The excitement of finding the right gift that represents them and something they may not even think to get for themselves brings me so much joy.”
What’s your go-to holiday fashion essential?
“My essential fashion accessory is my Family Crest Lapel Pin that I created to honour my family roots and cities where I grew up. My upbringing has made me the person I am today and I like to remind myself of how grateful I am for that, especially around the holidays.”
What’s your favourite way to enjoy Meiomi Pinot Noir?
“I can’t choose just one way to enjoy it. It’s great on its own on a cozy fall night. But I also love it with my homemade braised short rib or a charcuterie board. I love that it pairs well with any food and even with dark chocolate if you’re having it after dinner. It’s such a versatile wine that you’ll enjoy it under any circumstances.”
Ife Ironloye
Ife Ironloye is a Vancouver-based visual content creator, curator and brand strategist. Her favourite thing about the holidays is the festive decor. “I love how the city comes alive with so much beauty. You can just feel the joy in the air. I always look forward to going to the Christmas market and light shows with my friends, too.”
What’s your go-to holiday fashion essential?
“My most essential fashion accessory has got to be my sparkling silver earrings. They just have a way of elevating every look, no matter how casual. I love to wear them for holiday brunches and dinners and they are always the last thing I put on when getting ready.”
What’s your favourite way to enjoy Meiomi Pinot Noir?
“Every time I drink Meimoi Pinot Noir, I feel like I’m in a movie. It’s rich and very fine. So when it comes to my favourite way to enjoy my glass, it is definitely on a cozy night in. I am a bit of an introvert, so I tend to spend most of my evenings watching my favourite series on Netflix and I always have a glass of wine in hand with my favourite dessert, too. I also appreciate sharing the experience with friends when they come over for games night. It’s perfect for every setting, really, and that’s why I love it.”
Gabrielle Lacasse
Gabrielle Lacasse is a Montreal-based digital creator with a love for fashion, skincare, vintage finds, and, of course, wine. This holiday season, she’s most looking forward to getting together with her aunts, grandparents and cousins over a big dinner followed by a lot of singing and dancing. “And don’t forget the tourtière (+ ketchup)!”
What’s your go-to holiday fashion essential?
“My grandmother hasn’t been with us for a few years now to celebrate Christmas, but I’ve kept a tradition of wearing one of her jewels on Christmas Eve as if she was still with us. We miss her presence greatly, but it is comforting to know she is with us in spirit.”
What’s your favourite way to enjoy Meiomi Pinot Noir?
“A good glass of wine always accompanies holiday food, and sometimes sparkling wine, at our family gatherings. It’s a tradition to wish each other a positive New Year while toasting with those we love. Meiomi Pinot Noir is versatile, so it’s easy to enjoy and pairs well with meats and holiday foods.”
