Get to Know bülow: The 18-Year-Old Canadian Artist Who’s Already Cooler Than You
Remember when it felt like every streetcar, bus stop and billboard in Toronto featured a picture of Daniel Caesar or Jessie Reyez in a pastel Roots sweatsuit? Well, it’s that time of year again. The Roots 2018 Sweatstyle campaign is here — and, if previous stars are any indication, the faces on these ads are ones you’re going to want to remember.
With this year’s roster of Canadian musicians, Roots is celebrating individuality. “In addition to their Incredible musical talent,” said Mangala D’Sa, Roots Vice President, Marketing, “each of our 2018 artists has a unique fashion sense that is an expression of who they are.” First on the docket: 18-year-old German/Canadian artist Megan Bülow.
You may not know her name — as an artist, she goes by bülow — but you’ve probably already heard her hit song. With almost 1.5 million view on YouTube, her viral anti-romance anthem, “Not A Love Song,” shot her into international spotlight before she’d even finished high school. Now that she’s graduated, bülow is leaving her life in Holland to pursue music full-time in Toronto. A few months in, and things seem to be off to a pretty safe start: this fall, bülow will be performing throughout North America with headlining concert at Toronto’s famed Mod Club on September 8. And, you know, her face is going to be plastered on public spaces across the country.
