Gigi Gorgeous and Maye Musk Walked for Philipp Plein at Milan Fashion Week
On Saturday evening, Philipp Plein staged his F/W20 runway show at Milan Fashion Week and a few familiar faces caught our eye as two Canadians were featured on the catwalk: Gigi Gorgeous and Maye Musk.
Musk, 71, was the first to appear, wearing a leopard print jacket, black trousers and heels. Taking to Instagram once the show had wrapped, the model shared a photo of herself on the catwalk with a caption that read, “Do I look angry because I’m cool, or because I walked the longest runway ever for 9 minutes in 6″ heels?”
Next up was Gorgeous, wearing a sparkly purple mini dress with a corset-style belt and giant earrings. She too celebrated the moment on Instagram, writing, “No limits. Thank you so much Philipp Plein for letting me wear your beautiful clothing and be a part of such an epic show tonight in Milan.” Schitt’s Creek actress Emily Hampshire (who was recently nominated for a Canadian Screen Award) commented on the post to say she was crying watching the video of her friend walking the runway. She later shared the post in her stories, writing, “She is officially everything!”
The pair walked alongside the likes of Jada Pinkett Smith (who opened the show following a performance by Tyga), as well as Olivia Culpo and photographer Ellen von Unwerth.
The show wasn’t without its usual controversy however, as at the end of the runway, Plein sent models (including Pinkett Smith and Culpo) down the runway in jewelled Lakers basketball jerseys in tribute to Kobe Bryant. Social media didn’t take kindly to the tribute, particularly considering the designer had a gold helicopter as part of his set. Plein wrote on Instagram that the brand “is proud to support Mamba and Mambacita Foundation” though it did not disclose what percentage of the sales from the pieces would be donated to the foundation.
