Girls Just Wanna Have Fun
I hate winter. Sorry to be so blunt, but I really feel like I should’ve been born and raised on a tropical island. That being said, going out on a cold, windy winter’s night can be a rarity, even for this fashionable girl. Thankfully, those few nights out have been worth the shivers and dry skin (getting a golden bronze on vacay recently only added to the need for Palmer’s Cocoa Butter!), especially at the media opening for Shopgirls Gallery Boutique.
Venturing past Dufferin on Queen Street West (which, surprisingly, is slowly also becoming less of a rarity), my girlie and I ended up having a yummy Shop-tini and chatting with the lovely owner, Michelle Germain, after browsing the fabulous finds that the 1,800-square-foot space has to offer. Featuring and nurturing Canadian designers and artists is this style haven’s motto. Not only can you purchase unique jewellery and locally designed clothing, store items change on a regular basis. And there among the vintage furniture on display you’ll find some truly inspired art, thankfully also for sale. There’s also a studio space for all member artists to get down and dirty into designing or creating. Can’t wait to pop by at their tenth anniversary!
