Givenchy Unveils Its Debut Children’s Collection and It Has Cool Kid Written All Over It
Get ready for an epic wait list!
Givenchy has just unveiled its first-ever childrenswear line and it’s anything but pink and frilly.
Launching this July, the 130-piece collection for girls, boys and babies (newborn to 12 years) features adorable/beyond cool “streetwear-inspired pieces and house classics” inspired by the French luxury label’s ready-to-wear line. Denim, jogging trousers, statement sweaters and tees—little ones can become street style stars, even before they take their first steps.
The house has previously dabbled in custom orders for special VIP clients/friends, like Kim Kardashian and Beyoncé (former creative director Riccardo Tisci sent Kardashian a mini version of the brand’s iconic Bambi shirt for her daughter North West), but this launch marks its official expansion into childrenswear.
“It’s an organic extension,” Givenchy’s CEO Philippe Fortunato tells Business of Fashion. “It’s not about putting the logo on a commercial product, it’s really an extrapolation of a certain look, turning it into a very candid and romantic way of dressing the next generation of customers.” Besides the ready-to-wear kiddie collection, the label will also offer a selection of couture looks—upping the bar for christenings, piano recitals, class picture day, whatever.
Which celeb kid will be spotted in one of these haute looks first? Blue Ivy? Future Jr.? Dream Kardashian? Penelope Disick?
We’re putting our money on North West. Stay tuned.
