Go Behind The Scenes With Cara Delevingne For Chanel’s Exclusive New Gabrielle Video
Cara Delevingne has walked the runways of the world, starred in movies and flexed her philanthropic muscle. So what’s next for this Brit It girl? Becoming a cartoon heroine.
Following the release of Chanel’s first Gabrielle video with Kristen Stewart, comes the luxury brand’s second creation in a four-part series: a rotoscoped animated film with an urban pop spirit, created by Japanese director ShiShi Yamazaki, starring Delevingne. (Rotoscoping is an animation technique used to trace over live action film movement, frame by frame.)
In the one-minute piece, the 24-year-old model and Chanel ambassador plays a cartoon heroine who discovers a dream world where Chanel Gabrielle bags hang from trees—this sounds like our kind of place. She grabs them one by one, jumps on her skateboard and takes off on a colourful adventure.
Dressed in a head-to-toe Chanel look with serious street cred (tweed coat, hoodie, beanie), Delevingne takes us behind the scenes on set in an exclusive “making of” video, where she talks about transforming into a cartoon. “My character is a young Parisian skater girl who loves bags a lot—so basically me,” she says in the short piece. “For a one-minute film, it takes a month to do. The amount of work that goes into it is so much more after the shoot than now.”
