Google Glass is about to get fashionable thanks to Diane Von Furstenberg

Good news for Google Glass enthusiasts: Diane Von Furstenberg has added wearable computer frames to her list of accessories. After a noteworthy year for the designer, with the 40th anniversary of her legendary wrap dress, the announcement of her new E! reality show, and the 5th annual DVF awards, she’s turning her love for the Glass into a limited-edition eyewear line, unveiling five new frames and eight new shades for the wearable tech.

This collaboration marks the first fashion partnership for Google, in an attempt to make the hands free headset more stylish. The line includes three eyeglass frames in brown, black and purple, and two sunglass frames, each featuring the DVF logo on the top right corner of the lenses. If Ray-Ban is popping into your head right now, that’s probably due to Google’s recent partnership with Luxottica, the company behind the more-stylish sunglass huts, Ray-Ban and Oakley.

But even with all the fashionable upgrades, will wearable technology ever really catch on? While analysts estimate the wearable consumer market to be worth $30 billion by 2018, some consumers see these gadgets more as “novelty than utility”, while others, feel like it just hasn’t caught their fancy yet- and that mostly comes down to cost and style. Either way, it’s up to you to decide. Available for purchase June 23rd on Net-A-Porter.com and Mr.Porter.com the DVF Google Glass collection will be unveiled today.
