Goop and Banana Republic are Teaming Up on a New Podcast to Celebrate Women
Goop has announced today that it is teaming up with Banana Republic for a limited edition podcast series called Women on Top.
The podcast (which is the first join venture Goop has embarked on since launching) “will celebrate ceiling-shattering leaders who have broken boundaries to get where they are today,” according to a release. This includes activists, founders, entrepreneurs and thinkers.
The podcast will be hosted by founder Gwyneth Paltrow and Elise Loehnen, Goop’s chief content officer. Its first guest is Shannon Watts. Watts is known for founding Moms Demand Action, one of America’s largest grassroots organizations, which aims to prevent gun violence in the country. According to the release, former Teen Vogue editor Elaine Welteroth and life coach Marie Forleo will also feature on upcoming episodes.
In a statement, Loehnen said, “At Goop we are driven in large part by female stories and the voices of women, particularly those who challenge our existing perception of what’s possible. This series will feature conversations with the women we look up to – those who lead with grace, power and curiosity and are redefining what we think it means to break boundaries.”
According to Mary Alderete, Banana Republic’s chief marketing officer, the pair’s journey is only jus beginning. Speaking with Fast Company about the possibility of a fashion collaboration, Alderete said, “Nothing’s off the table. This is just the first step in a longer relationship.”
Paltrow will also host a live podcast in September, joined by Scandal actress Kerry Washington whose new film, American Son, will debut at TIFF next week.
The news comes after Banana Republic recently revealed it is launching a subscription rental service in the coming months, allowing customers to wear up to three pieces a month from the brand for a flat fee.
The first episode of Women on Top is available today, with a new episode dropping every Tuesday for eight weeks until October 22, 2019. Need more Goop in your life? The brand’s Toronto pop-up is still open for another three weeks.
