Here’s How to Keep Your Sephora Beauty Insider Points from Expiring

One of the best parts of being a Sephora customer is the retailer’s Beauty Insider rewards. The loyalty program allows shoppers to earn one point per dollar spent to eventually redeem free products and even go on exclusive trips.

Of course, the more points you have, the better the prize, which means plenty of Sephora customers (ourselves included!) continue to save their points, waiting for that perfect product. So it’s understandable that shoppers everywhere had a major freakout on Wednesday when they learned their beloved points suddenly had an expiry date.

As reported by Business Insider, prior to July 10, 2017, the beauty retailer’s loyalty program didn’t expire at all, meaning points would roll over from year to year. However, a clause was recently added to Sephora’s website stating, “It’s our hope that you redeem your points on a regular basis. All unredeemed points shall expire when a program member has not engaged in point activity associated with that membership account (through purchase or redemption) for 18 months or more.”

Now, 18 months is a pretty generous amount of time, but still, some Sephora customers were not pleased with the news.

Following the backlash, Sephora reached out to customers expressing their concerns via Twitter, clarifying “points only expire if your account is completely inactive for 18 months. If you make a purchase, make a redemption or redeem your birthday gift once every 18 months, your points will continue to roll over!”

So basically, just make sure you keep your account active (even if that means simply getting your birthday gift every year!), and your points will be safe and sound.
