Here’s What Happened on Eugenie Bouchard’s Date with a Twitter Fan
Amidst the Super Bowl half-time spectacle starring Lady Gaga and the edge-of-the-seat game between the New England Patriots and the Atlanta Falcons, we somehow missed a romantic Twitter bet going down between Canadian tennis star Eugenie Bouchard and a fan, known as @punslayintwoods.
It started off just like any typical night for a football fan, with Genie tweeting out her support for the Falcons.
I knew Atlanta would win btw

Soon after, @punslayintwoods made the bold decision to make a bet with Bouchard if the Patriots ended up winning.
@geniebouchard if patriots win we go on a date?
— TW1 (@punslayintwoods) February 6, 2017
The 22-year-old Olympian answered with a swift “sure” (obviously thinking the Falcons would win).

Clearly, other Twitter users took that as a cue to ask the tennis player out. One fan decided to ask her out on a date if the Falcons won.
@geniebouchard if Atlanta wins how about a date?

By the end of the night, Bouchard came to terms with reality and saw the Falcons had no shot of winning (Tom Brady #FTW), but like a true sport, the athlete honoured her bet and tweeted back at @punslayintwoods, asking where he lived.
So…where do you live? https://t.co/mfucQ0C9VL

Lesson learned. Never bet against Tom Brady ?

Though judging from her morning-after tweet, she started to have second thoughts…
Omg…last night really happened… pic.twitter.com/WVxdKPYV68

There was no word on whether or not she was going to honour her bet until February 15th, where she tweeted out a photo of herself heading out on a date, dressed scantily in a black crop top, black leather pants and a black moto jacket. She later added a Houghton faux fur coat overtop her ensemble.
Busy day with @si_swimsuit and then tonight… I'm going on a date ? pic.twitter.com/jNF5sokLNx

To be honest, it was quite brave of Bouchard to agree to go on this date, given there are so many Twitter trolls out there. But he probably had to go through extreme vetting beforehand, or at least we hope.
As the evening went on, we finally got a photo of the mysterious Twitter fan “John.” Being the pro social media user that she is, Genie even tweeted out the events of the date, which started off with a pic of the two in the backseat of the car, while on the way to sit courtside (obv) at Wednesday’s Brooklyn Nets game.
Just met my 'Super Bowl Twitter Date' John ? On our way to the @BrooklynNets game! @punslayintwoods pic.twitter.com/DHRgY46smd

The two were stopped by TMZ Sports when leaving the stadium to get a little recap of how the date was going. The tennis star simply answered, “Awesome. He’s normal.”
Clearly the date went well. John even said it was “his best date ever.”
And to top it all off, it ended with a kiss on the cheek. Aww.
Last night… ? pic.twitter.com/Vu3DYgYSBh

The next day, Bouchard took to Snapchat to show off the gift John gave her the night before: Tiffany & Co. earrings.
Looks like John scored some major points!
We don’t know when or where the follow-up date will be, but you can bet we’ll be following it and updating you with the latest deets. In the meantime, note to self: A date with your dream celeb is possible if you just ask/tweet.
