While there’s nothing wrong with going classic—winged liner, red lips and a good blowout, sometimes a girl needs to get a little more creative. So we enlisted Schwarzkopf Professional stylist Rossa Jurenas to show us how to get the braided scarf bun that we saw at Alice + Olivia Spring 2015. The surprisingly versatile look is super-easy to recreate—you just need to know how to braid!

Step 1:
Prep your hair with mousse— we used OSiS+ Grip Extreme Hold Mousse —for volume at the roots.

Step 2:
Put the hair in a ponytail, but keep it organic, not too tight, so it has texture and movement.
Put a scarf into the ponytail using the same elastic.

Step 3:
Split the ponytail in half and using the scarf as the third stand, do a 3-strand braid.

Step 4:
Secure an elastic on the end of the braid.

Step 5:
Start to twist the braid up into a chignon.

Step 6:
Secure with bobby pins and give a final dusting of hairspray.
