December is well underway and the temperature’s dropping, so that can only mean one thing (okay, a lot of things but just go with it): holiday nail art. If you’ve been steering clear of nail art because it seems time-consuming and complicated, then this is the tutorial for you! Snowflakes can often be intimidating to paint because they look impossible to master, but they’re actually way easier than they look.

Step 1:
Start by painting your nails a dark blue. Any shade you like will do, and one with a shimmer will add a nice, festive touch.

Step 2:
To build the basic snowflake shape, draw three intersecting white lines using either a white striping polish or acrylic paint.

Step 3:
Add dots to the tips using a dotting tool.

Step 4:
If you would like, you can also add another series of dots closer to the centre of the snowflake.

Step 5:
Draw small “Vs” in between the dots.

Step 6:
Continue this pattern all over your other nails. You can get a bit creative and do partial snowflakes near the edges of your nails.

Step 7:
To create a snowman, you will need your dotting tools in two or three different sizes. Start by doing sort of a French tip in white polish on the nail of your choice. It does not need to be straight.

Step 8:
Create your snowman by using your dotting tools along with some white and black polish. For the carrot nose, use a dotting tool dipped in orange polish and dragged the dot out gently.

Step 9:
For a truly wintery landscape, fill in any space on your nails with random white and glittery dots.
