Cara Delevigne is having a moment. She’s one of the most popular models in the industry, her face everywhere—from Burberry billboards to Vogue UK covers—and did we mention she spends her free time hanging out with royals? While we don’t want to reduce her appeal down to one single aspect, it’s impossible to mention Cara without talking about her prominent eyebrows. Bushy, bold and totally becoming, Cara Delevinge’s eyebrows make us never want to touch tweezers ever again. However, that’s not all it takes to achieve her iconic look. We spoke with Tweezerman brow expert Mary Dhang about Cara Delevinge’s eyebrows and she shared the steps to achieving this luscious look. Runway-worthy brows for all!
One: Let your eyebrows grow in as big as possible. (This may take a few weeks, so be patient!)
Tip: Use castor oil or RapidLash ($50, rapidlash.com) to speed up the growth process.
Two: Tweeze away strays far away from the actual shape of brows, follow your natural brow line. Use slant tweezers made from high-quality metal for removing hairs with ease and accuracy.
Tip: When in doubt, leave the hair alone.
Three: Brush eyebrows up and trim away long hairs in the direction of the growth with the Tweezerman Brow Shaping Scissors & Brush ($19, tweezerman.com). The curved blade design allows for easy snipping maneuvering. Be careful not to over trim—you want to avoid choppy blunt brow hairs. Leave the fans of the brow (that is, the hairs that stick up at the front of your brow) for a more natural look.
Tip: When going for a bigger, bolder look, brows that are too angled and squared tend to look extreme and masculine, so keep the arch soft and the fans natural for a more feminine, yet bold, brow.
Four: Now it’s time to have a little fun with brow products. First, add some colour and definition with a brow pencil, wax or shadow. Then use a brow gel that conditions course hairs, as well as setting and defining them, such as Cover Girl Professional Natural Lash Mascara ($7, well.ca).
Tip: Filling in brows can seem challenging, but it actually is quite easy. Start by defining the perimeter of your brows to create the frame. For a subtle glow, try a brow highlighter, such as Benefit’s High Brow pencil ($26, sephora.com). Once your frame is established, fill in the inside of your brows with Too Faced Brow-nie Brow Pencil ($20, toofaced.com). Deposit pigment where it’s needed and add more if necessary. Brush out and blend product into brow hairs then set brows with the brow gel to finish.
