How to Get Your Hands on Canadian Artist Andy Dixon’s Versace Collab
After joining forces to create bold installations for Milan Design Week and Art Basel last year, Versace has once again teamed up with Vancouver-born fine artist Andy Dixon to produce a selection of vibrant garments for Spring 2020.
In keeping with the Italian house’s penchant for pops of colour and historical motifs, Dixon’s contribution to the seasonal offering includes a decadent denim jacket with mother-of-pearl buttons that features a colourful depiction of Bacchus, Roman god of wine and fertility.
“Working with Versace has been a dream come true,” says Dixon. “I’ve referenced the house in past work because I’m drawn to their ethos – a kind of sampling of art historical tropes, smashed together in irreverent over-the-topness, which I take a lot of inspiration from. When they contacted me, I thought, this is exactly what needs to happen, and the collaborative process was smooth and harmonious, as though I was working with old friends.”
Available for an exclusive pre-sale on High Snobiety from today, January 8 (starting at 9am EST), Versace’s latest drop has everything one would need for wiling away the hours in warm temperatures, like shorts printed with Dixon’s series of electric-hued amphora (ancient vase-like vessels), and a baseball hat that boasts a graphic of a bottle of the Versace L’Homme fragrance. Nab one of these items and you’ll be living la dolce vita in no time.
